| Applying for Radiology Residency : | |||||||||
| Thank you very much for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. We are a smaller program in a smaller community, but we feel we have a lot to offer the resident-in-training. We are accredited by the ACGME for 20 radiology residency positions. In addition, we have an accredited two-year nuclear medicine residency with one position, and an accredited one-year pediatric imaging fellowship with one position. | |||||||||
| One of the attractions of our program is our five-year integrated residency in which the residents do month-long rotations in various clinical settings that are "integrated" into their radiology curriculum. You are a part of the Radiology Department from the very beginning, and you will be able to start practicing your chosen specialty immediately rather than waiting an additional year. It also means that if you are accepted into our residency program, you do not have to arrange a separate transitional year and, as a department, we have more control over how you spend your clinical time. | |||||||||
| Residents are allowed to design their own clinical curriculum to support their interests in a particular subspecialty of radiology. We currently have rotation agreements with the Departments of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, PM&R, OB/Gyn, Surgical Oncology, Orthopedics, and the ER, but we are able to add additional rotations if you design one that is not currently on our list. | |||||||||
| We have a top-notch faculty at University of Missouri Health Care with specialists in all areas of radiology. We attempt to keep the faculty/resident ratio at 1:1 and, due to the size of our program, you are in close communication with all of the faculty and administration. Our residents consistently do well on their board examinations. For the past several years, about half of our residents have gone directly into private practice and half have continued on into fellowships in various areas. | |||||||||
| Application Process | |||||||||
| All of our applications are processed through ERAS. The deadline for application material is October 31; We do begin sending out invitations to interview prior to that date. We have four positions per year that are filled as part of the match. Since the clinical year is part of our residency program, we only consider PGY1’s. We require three letters of reference, at least one of them from a radiologist. We have no cutoff score for USMLE, but do consider the scores in our selection process. | |||||||||
