| Salaries | |||||||||
| Resident salaries are quite competitive, especially when you take into account the low cost of living in Columbia. Salaries are adjusted yearly in order to correspond with the mean resident incomes across the nation. Resident stipends for the 2008/2009 year are as follows: | |||||||||

| Radiology residents are given 15 days vacation for PGY1-3 and 20 days vacation for PGY4-5. Each resident is also allowed 10days of sick leave and 8 holidays per year, plus eith the week of Christmas or New Years (half-staff). | |||||||||
| Insurance | |||||||||
| Medical and dental benefits are very competitive. Residents and their families may choose medical/dental/long-term disability/life insurance from plans available on a cost-sharing basis through University Healthcare. Malpractice insurance is covered for residents at no charge. Disability and life insurance are also available through the University at low cost. | |||||||||
| Retirement Plans | |||||||||
| Residents may choose to enter into 403b plans through the University. | |||||||||
| Parking | |||||||||
| Our parking garage is very conveniently located adjacent to University Hospital, at a current cost of $18 per month. You will not need shuttles and will have no long walks to get your car during those rainy days or winter months. | |||||||||
| Educational Funds: | |||||||||
| Each resident is allotted a $1000 educational fund for each of the five years of their participation in the program to be used for books, journals, and meeting expenses. In addition, the department provides the Brant and Helms radiology text to each PGY1 resident. | |||||||||
| Moonlighting Opportunities | |||||||||
| Many residents choose to supplement their income and gain experience by working independently at outside facilities in Missouri. Several moonlighting opportunities are available for upper level residents. | |||||||||
| Libraries | |||||||||
| The J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library is located in the atrium at the north end of the medical school on the second floor. The resources in the library are available to all personnel with an ID badge. Information on the library, including hours, interlibrary loan, and access to the MERLIN catalog, OVID databases and on-line books and journals, is available at their website (library.muhealth.org.). There is also a seperate Radiology library as well online to access major radiology journals and interactive case files. | |||||||||
| Resident Lounge | |||||||||
| The resident lounge area that is stocked with food and beverages 24 hours a day, seven days a week free of charge. It also serves as a gathering place for residents from all departments so that you can relax and enjoy the company of your colleagues. | |||||||||
| AIRP (formerly AFIP) | |||||||||
| As part of the resident educational experience, each radiology resident has the opportunity to attend the 4 week radiology AFIP course in Silversprings, MD. The department covers the $1500 tuition and additionally, provides a $2000 living expense allocation. See www.airp.org for more information. | |||||||||
